BELKYRA^TM is a non-surgical and non-invasive way to remove the double chin.

BELKYRA^TM is an injectable prescription medicine that reduces the fat under the chin, which is also called submental fat or double chin. BELKYRA^TM contains the active ingredient Deoxycholate, which is one of the body's naturally occurring bile salts. Injecting BELKYRA^TM into the area of fat under the chin causes the breakdown of fat cells and eventual fat loss in the targeted area. Once destroyed, the cells can no longer accumulate fat. BELKYRA^TM is the first and only non-surgical treatment in Canada for improvement of the appearance of fullness in the area under the chin.

BELKYRA^TM injections are an in-office procedure requiring minimal down time (most commonly only after the first treatment session). Patients treated with BELKYRA^TM typically experience visible contouring of their chin profile in 2 - 4 treatment sessions, with no further treatment required. Sessions are usually spaced 1- 2 months apart.

Pain may be experienced during the injection procedure and may last for several days. Swelling, bruising or numbness of the submental (under chin) area is expected and can last for 1-2 weeks before subsiding.
